The Manchester United front is in Chaos

Manchester United manager Erik ten Hag has jumped to the defence of Joshua Zirkzee and Bruno Fernandes as the team struggles to find consistent attacking form in the early stages of the Premier League season. With just five goals scored in their opening five matches and back-to-back draws against Crystal Palace and FC Twente, the Red Devils have faced criticism for their lack of offensive firepower.

After joining Manchester United from Bologna in the summer, 23-year-old forward Joshua Zirkzee has found the back of the net only once. Despite his underwhelming goal tally, ten Hag insists he remains confident in Zirkzee’s abilities and believes the young attacker can eventually become a success at Old Trafford. The United boss has praised Zirkzee’s overall play and his attacking qualities, suggesting that his goal-scoring touch will come in time.

Bruno Fernandes’ Lack of Contributions Defended

Ten Hag has also supported club captain Bruno Fernandes, who has provided just one assist in five Premier League appearances this season. The Portuguese playmaker, known for his creativity and offensive contributions since arriving at United, has yet to find his form. Nevertheless, ten Hag has faith in Fernandes’ talent and experience, backing him to regain his impact on the team as the season progresses.

Struggles in Front of Goal

Manchester United’s struggles to convert chances into goals have been a recurring issue this season. In their recent draws against Crystal Palace and FC Twente, the team managed a combined 34 shots but only scored once. Both Zirkzee and Fernandes were heavily involved in those matches, but neither managed to make a significant impact on the scoreboard.

Despite the attacking struggles, ten Hag maintains confidence in his squad’s abilities to turn things around. He sees potential in Zirkzee’s development as an attacking force and believes Fernandes will rediscover the level of play that has made him one of the Premier League’s standout midfielders. As the season progresses, the Dutch manager will be hoping that his support and confidence in his players will help United regain their attacking edge and climb up the league table.
