West Ham United is looking to sign 18-year-old Norwegian forward Sindre Walle Egeli. The young talent, who plays for FC Nordsjaelland, is being targeted by several clubs aiming to bring him to the Premier League. According to the Daily Mail, West Ham, along with Brentford, Newcastle United, Crystal Palace, and Brighton & Hove Albion, are in the race to sign Egeli.
West Ham Looking to Refresh Their Forward Line
West Ham is keen to refresh their aging forward line, which currently includes players like Michail Antonio (34), Danny Ings (32), and Niclas Fullkrug (31). Egeli has emerged as a key target in this process. Nordsjaelland is reportedly demanding around £21 million for the young talent, who is often dubbed the “new Erling Haaland.”
Sindre Walle Egeli’s Rising Career
Egeli impressed in Norway with Sandefjord, where he scored 19 goals in 13 matches, and accumulated 32 goals in 35 matches overall. Capable of playing both on the wings and as a center forward, the young player made his move from Sandefjord to Nordsjaelland last summer, where he has since made 12 appearances for the first team.
This month, Egeli made his debut for the Norwegian national team in a UEFA Nations League match against Kazakhstan. He has also made a mark at the youth level, scoring 32 goals for Norway’s youth teams. If West Ham secures his signing, Egeli could follow in Erling Haaland’s footsteps to become a global star.
West Ham’s Chances in the Transfer Race
If West Ham successfully signs the young forward, it could prove to be a valuable long-term investment. While £21 million may seem steep for a player who has yet to fully prove himself at the top level, Egeli’s potential makes this a bet worth taking. West Ham hopes this signing will strengthen their squad in their pursuit of European football for the 2024-25 season.
