France Held to a Shock Draw by Israel as Mbappe’s Absence Looms Large
In the UEFA Nations League, France faltered to a disheartening 0-0 draw against a resolute Israel, and Kylian Mbappe’s absence was evident. In front of a small audience at the Stade de France, Didier Deschamps’ team dominated possession and created a lot of chances, but they were unable to convert them.
Les Bleus had 24 shots and 71% of the possession, but only eight of them were on goal. Bradley Barcola, N’Golo Kante, and Eduardo Camavinga all had near calls in the first half, but Israeli goalkeeper Daniel Peretz put on an incredible display to hold off the home team. In the final seconds, Peretz saved Israel’s hard-won point by rejecting a last-ditch attempt by Christopher Nkunku.
Mbappe’s shadow prevents Barcola from shining
Bradley Barcola, who was supposed to replace Mbappe, was unable to make a significant difference. The youthful attacker was engaged in multiple offensive plays, but he was unable to take advantage of the openings that were given. His performance demonstrated how difficult it is for France to find a trustworthy replacement for their lucky star.
