Franco Colapinto Could Be on Red Bull’s Radar
Red Bull Eyeing Williams Rookie for Next Generation Prospects
There are whispers about Franco Colapinto’s future; Red Bull might be monitoring the current Williams rookie driver. Following their recent reorganization, which saw Daniel Ricciardo replaced by Liam Lawson in VCARB, the energy drink squad is investigating their alternatives even if rumors about Colapinto leaving Williams for Red Bull remain unverified.
Red Bull advisor Helmut Marko answered Motorsport-Total regarding Colapinto’s potential: “I think he has a long-term contract with Williams and is definitely a promising driver.” The Argentine is talented. He gave quite amazing performances in Baku and Singapore.
A Rising Talent Right in Front of us
Marko believes Colapinto’s current play as outstanding, despite his relative inexperience and minimal success in junior series especially given he has not been part of a top-tier team. Though he has to be noted that Colapinto has never been in the elite teams, we notice that he is quite inexperienced and not very successful in the junior series,” Marko said. “But right now he is performing really brilliantly.
Marko also pointed out how the field of F1 talent scouting is evolving: “Formula 2 drivers could find performance in Formula 1. Drivers with just five or three years of experience cannot always be relied upon as in earlier times.
Although Red Bull’s potential move to recruit Colapinto is not immediately evident, elite teams are clearly drawn to his outstanding performances, and his path could generate interesting future developments.
