Frank Lampard in Talks with Coventry City for Managerial Role
English football legend Frank Lampard, who has been without a managerial role for 1.5 years, is reportedly in discussions with Championship side Coventry City.
Ongoing Negotiations
According to Sky Sports, Lampard and Coventry City are in talks, but no agreement has been reached yet. Discussions are expected to continue throughout the week as Coventry searches for a successor to Mark Robins, who parted ways with the club two weeks ago after a seven-year tenure.
Lampard’s Managerial Hiatus
Lampard has been out of management since May 2023, following his stint as interim head coach at Chelsea. The former Derby County and Everton manager is now considering a return to the dugout in the Championship.
Coventry’s Statement
Club owner Doug King recently confirmed that Lampard had applied for the position. Speaking about the search for a new manager, King said:
“We’ve received applications from many high-quality individuals, and Frank Lampard is one of them.”
If Lampard secures the role, it would mark his return to a league where he previously achieved success, leading Derby County to the Championship play-offs in the 2018-19 season.
