Gareth Southgate Emerges as Shock Candidate for Crystal Palace Job After England Exit

Surprisingly, Gareth Southgate has been connected to the Crystal Palace management post even though he previously disqualified himself from consideration for the Manchester United position. The Guardian claims that Southgate is being considered by Crystal Palace as a possible successor to current manager Oliver Glasner, who is under pressure after the team’s dismal start to the season.

With just three points from draws with Chelsea, Leicester, and Manchester United, Palace has lost all eight of their games so far this season. The club is searching for a replacement for Glasner, and because of his prior ties to the team, Southgate has surfaced as a contender. Southgate was a frequent face at Selhurst Park as he played for Palace from 1988 to 1995, even taking on the role of captain at the age of 23.

Other Applicants

Although Southgate is one possibility, it has been stated that Crystal Palace is also thinking over other managers like David Moyes and Graham Potter. Both coaches have a wealth of Premier League experience and would be good substitutes if the team decides to fire Glasner.

Southgate has already hinted that he would take a break from club management after leaving his position as England manager, despite the speculations. Although he was connected to the Manchester United position, he stated that he was convinced he would not accept a new coaching position right away following his resignation.
