Gareth Taylor Explains Jess Park’s Absence from Man City’s Win

Due to a foot issue, Jess Park, the dynamic player for Manchester City and the Lionesses, was unable to play in City’s 2-0 victory against West Ham. This raises questions as the club gets ready to play Barcelona in a pivotal Champions League group stage encounter.

Park has scored three goals in her first two games of the season, giving her an incredible start to the campaign. However, because of the close proximity to City’s important matchup against the defending European champions, Barcelona, many were concerned when she was left out of the team against West Ham.

Park’s Fitness Update from Gareth Taylor

Head coach Gareth Taylor gave assurances on Park’s health following the game. “She’ll be alright,” Taylor assured. She didn’t want to miss today, but we decided to release some pressure in the region behind her foot after consulting with the medical department. She is doing very great. She spent today practicing alone. With all due respect to West Ham, we never felt as though we would likely need her today—it was more about our alternative possibilities.

According to Taylor’s remarks, the move was made out of prudence to make sure Park would be well-prepared for the crucial Champions League matchup with Barcelona.
