Real Madrid, Juventus Turin, Manchester United, and now Al-Nassr. Cristiano Ronaldo (39) and his girlfriend Georgina Rodríguez (30) have experienced several career moves of the superstar together. However, there is one city that Rodríguez doesn’t have the best memories of, as she recently revealed.
“When Cris told me that he was going to play for Al-Nassr, I was so relieved because I desperately wanted to leave Manchester,” the Spanish-Argentinian model said in the new season of her successful Netflix reality show “I Am Georgina,” discussing the five-time Ballon d’Or winner’s move to Saudi Arabia.
Whether it was the club or the city causing the dissatisfaction remains unclear. It’s likely a combination of both. Ronaldo’s stint with the “Red Devils” was certainly a major misunderstanding, which ended in November 2022 with the termination of his contract following months of tension with coach Erik ten Hag (54).
Speaking about their departure from England, Georgina said, “I knew something big was awaiting us, and we were highly motivated. I was really excited to come to Saudi Arabia.” Initially, the family didn’t have a house in Saudi Arabia, and instead lived in a hotel for a month. “Everything happened so fast. At first, I had some ups and downs because we had never lived in a hotel for so long,” the model revealed. “There were days when I didn’t want anyone to see me, but overall, I was very excited.”
Elsewhere in the series, Rodríguez talks about the special connection with Real Madrid that still exists today: “The fans always chanted Cristiano’s name, and Cristiano was grateful to hear those chants and see their love for him. We know they will continue to cheer for him wherever we go and sing his name, just as they do today.” In Manchester, things are probably a bit different…
