Beşiktaş head coach Giovanni van Bronckhorst made significant statements following the team’s 2-1 victory over Eyüpspor. With this win in the 6th week of the Trendyol Süper Lig, Beşiktaş raised their points tally to 13.

“We Struggled to Capitalize on Our Chances”

Speaking after the match, van Bronckhorst said, “It was a good match with a lot of events. After the 1-1 equalizer, we kept our belief and managed to turn the game around. We won a clear penalty and held on to the score. We played against a strong team that suffered their first loss today, which shows their quality. In the end, this was a very important win for us.”

Van Bronckhorst: “We Weren’t Good at Finishing”

The Dutch coach continued, “We created chances, but we weren’t good at finishing them. Sometimes goals come late, but in the end, we got the 3 points, which is what matters. In future matches, we need to focus on capitalizing on these goal opportunities.”

Preparations for the Ajax Match

Van Bronckhorst also spoke about their upcoming UEFA Europa League match against Ajax: “I’m happy to be going back to my home country. I enjoy my time in Turkey, but going home is always special. Ajax is a strong team, supported by passionate fans, and they are building a new squad. We have 3 days to prepare for this game, and we need to collect points to advance to the next rounds, even though we’ll be away from home.”

Derby Comments

Van Bronckhorst mentioned watching the recent derby, stating, “Derbies are special matches, and I watched it to prepare my team for both rivals. We recently played Galatasaray, and we watched Fenerbahçe’s matches. My current focus is on preparing my team for Ajax, not on Galatasaray or Fenerbahçe.”

Ernest Muçi Decision

When asked about Ernest Muçi, who was not included in the squad, Van Bronckhorst explained, “We selected 12 foreign players for today. We build a 21-man squad and select 11 for the lineup. Trust me on this decision-making process. We follow this throughout the week based on the players’ conditions and the opponent.”
