Hamilton took a tour of the Interlagos on the 1990 McLaren MP4/5B over the weekend of the Sao Paulo Grand Prix.
Hamilton pulled over the MP4/5B with V10 engine, taking the Brazilian flag from an officer and repeated Senna’s famous move when he won in Brazil in 1991.
Hamilton said, “This is really very emotional.”
“I’m back to my childhood, where I watched Ayrton race.”
“Hearing that voice, watching him win the race here… I couldn’t believe I had the chance to do that, and it was really the greatest honor of my career.”
“It’s also incredible to do this in front of this beautiful crowd that has been waiting in the rain all day in Brazil yesterday and has been here since 4 or 3 o’clock this morning.”
“It’s a very, very special day for me and I am infinitely grateful to everyone who made this happen,” he said.
