Hamilton: “There Will Be Better Weekends Than Monza”

As Mercedes continues to rediscover its form before the summer break, Lewis Hamilton believes the W15 has yet to reach its full performance potential.

After securing only one victory since Formula 1’s ground effect regulations were implemented in 2022, Mercedes managed to clinch three wins in four races before the 2024 summer break.

However, since returning from the break, the team has struggled to match that level of performance, with their best result being a fifth-place finish in the two races held so far.

Following the Italian GP, Hamilton commented, “Some weekends we get everything right, while on others, we don’t.”

“There is definitely a performance we need to show over the next few races. I’m not sure if there is anything major, but hopefully, we will have more for Austin. I expect we will make some progress. There will be tracks where we will be better than we were here. Hopefully, at some point, we can fight for a win.”

Hamilton’s teammate George Russell added that given the varying performances of the leading teams, Formula 1 is “strange” to follow right now.

Russell said, “It’s a bit weird at the moment with Red Bull losing so much speed.”

“Ferrari seemed to be struggling, but on Sunday at Zandvoort and Monza, they were very fast.”
