1996 World Champion Damon Hill believes that Charles Leclerc embodies the characteristics of a “typical Ferrari driver” and has an “all or nothing” approach in F1.
Although Leclerc joined the team in 2019 and has yet to compete for a championship with Ferrari, the Maranello-based team and its tifosi have embraced him significantly. The expectation on Leclerc increases even more with seven-time World Champion Lewis Hamilton set to take the other seat in 2025. Despite the rising expectations, Hill thinks that a world championship is achievable for Leclerc and also for Mercedes driver George Russell.
Speaking on the “F1 Explains” podcast, Hill said, “I believe Charles Leclerc is a typical Ferrari driver in many ways. I think Charles has the mindset of ‘I’ll either win or I’ll lose.’ But of course, championships can be won with that mindset.” He added, “However, I cannot overlook George Russell when it comes to championships. He is definitely a fighter.”
