HORNER ANGRY: “RED FLAG SHOULD HAVE BEEN RAISED IMMEDIATELY IN STROLL’S ACCIDENT”

Lance Stroll crashed into barriers in the second part of the Brazilian Grand Prix qualifying lap. After the accident, yellow flags were raised and some pilots who did not pass through there completed their quick laps. At that time, Max Verstappen and Sergio Perez, who were in the elimination zone, could not complete their continuing rounds due to the red flag. Red Bull team boss Christian Horner was quite angry about the situation and told Sky Sports F1:
“This is extremely annoying.”
“A lot happens naturally in such a session. We don’t understand why it took so long for the red flag to appear.”
“Frankly, it was a big accident, it was one of the most dangerous turns on the track, it took 40 seconds to raise the red flag. Whether it was yesterday’s virtual security tool or today’s red flag, it was decided for the second day in a row. The other red flags were all instantaneous.”
“This is a very, very harsh situation, but what happened happened and we have to fight to be able to come back this afternoon.”
“When such an accident occurs, the red flag should be raised immediately. If the red flag had been raised instantly, Max would have been in 10th place and would have time to take another round.
“We want to understand the thoughts of the race director, we want to understand why it took so long to give the red flag.”
