Horner Responds to Allegations: “McLaren Wants to Cover Up the Mini DRS”

Christian Horner claimed that the FIA’s intervention on Red Bull’s front bib adjuster was aimed at calming the paranoia of rival teams.

Red Bull is in the headlines again after the FIA added seals to the front bib (T-Ray) adjuster. This weekend, the FIA requested changes to that part of the car before the season ends. In an interview with Sky Sports, Christian Horner dismissed all the allegations, stating: “I think some of our competitors have been a bit complaining, and of course, it’s the FIA’s job to investigate these kinds of things.”

“The adjuster has been listed as an open-source component for three years. There’s no problem with the FIA, so seals may have been added to calm some paranoia in the paddock.”

Horner also emphasized that adjusting Red Bull’s bib is not a simple task, as it requires removing panels and pedals, along with the use of a long mechanical rod: “It’s a very complex system; in fact, adjusting the rear stabilizer would be easier.”

Lastly, Horner stated that the recent focus on Red Bull following McLaren’s ‘mini DRS’ controversy is a deliberate move: “Sometimes, to cover up issues at home, you try to start a fire elsewhere.”
