Horner: “Things Are Starting to Fall into Place for the Team”
Red Bull team principal Christian Horner said that the synchronization between the team’s wind tunnel, CFD data, and the actual RB20 car is improving.
Red Bull has concluded that their wind tunnel data was different from what was needed, which led to the wrong direction being followed on the Imola track. Although the team is not yet back to its form from the start of the 2024 season, there are early signs of progress in aligning their data.
Assessing the team’s progress before the Singapore GP,Horner: “The wind tunnel, CFD data, and car are starting to synchronize better, which shows that things are starting to fall into place for the team.”
“Everyone in the team is doing an incredible job, and no one is giving up on anything, especially not the Constructors’ Championship.”
“We were unlucky not to perform at our maximum in Baku, but there are still many races to go. We are highly aware of our competitors’ performance, and everyone is doing their best.”
Perez’s speed in Azerbaijan made Horner feel that Red Bull has the potential to return to the front after a challenging period.
“We will take some confidence from Checo’s performance in Azerbaijan because he was within 1.5 seconds of the top three for 98% of the race. There are lessons to be learned from that.”
Although Red Bull’s recent performance struggles have focused on balance issues at the Imola circuit, Horner does not believe that Red Bull is the only team facing such challenges.
“All teams have faced issues at various times.”
“All teams, especially Ferrari and Mercedes, have had parts coming in and out of their cars. I think all teams are now reaching their limits.”
“We’ve had some issues with the car in the last few races, but I think we are now starting to really understand and overcome them.”
