Interesting comparison from Coulthard
Charles Leclerc has achieved 26 pole positions during his seven seasons in F1, which puts him 12th in the list of drivers with most pole positions in F1 history.
Although the Monegasque pilot impresses with his speed at times, he also draws attention with the mistakes he makes while pushing his car to its limits.
Speaking on the Formula For Success podcast, former F1 driver David Coulthard believes F1 will enter a ‘golden age’ when leading drivers find a way to eliminate minor mistakes.
” When Max Verstappen first came to F1, he had a few shortcomings, but apart from that he was a driver who was ready to compete in F1. But for the others it took a little longer,” Coulthard said.
“Charles Leclerc, for example, is like a puppy who still pees on the carpet every now and then.”
“But when the drivers correct all these little mistakes, I think we will enter a golden age of F1,” he said.
