It Always Hurts’ – Katie McCabe Admits Arsenal Are ‘Envious’ of Chelsea’s Success

Arsenal player Katie McCabe has said that the Gunners are jealous of Chelsea’s recent Women’s Super League (WSL) triumph. McCabe said that it has been difficult to see Chelsea’s supremacy over the previous few years as the two teams were scheduled to square off in a much awaited London Derby at the Emirates Stadium.

Chelsea has been the WSL champion for the past five seasons; Arsenal’s most recent league success came in the 2018–19 season.

Speaking to BBC Sport, McCabe said:

“It always hurts [seeing Chelsea lift the title]. You want that to be you. You play a team sport to lift trophies with your teammates. Of course, you feel envious of their success. What we can do is focus on ourselves, take one step at a time, and hopefully, by the end of the season, that will be us.”
