Kai Havertz Takes Another Swipe at Chelsea Over Arsenal Move

Kai Havertz has once again sparked anger among Chelsea fans after admitting that his move to Arsenal was “the best thing he could have done.” The German midfielder, who joined Arsenal in the summer of 2023 after three years at Stamford Bridge, has become an integral part of Mikel Arteta’s squad, helping the Gunners challenge for major titles.

Havertz’s time at Chelsea was marked by inconsistency, despite his key role in their 2021 Champions League triumph. Scoring 32 goals in 139 appearances for the Blues, he struggled to fully meet the high expectations placed on him. His departure to Arsenal has since brought him a fresh sense of purpose, with the German racking up 23 goals and 8 assists in 71 games for the North London club.

However, his exit from Chelsea has not been without controversy. In April, Havertz celebrated scoring in Arsenal’s dominant 5-0 win over Chelsea, and his comments afterwards – that winning the Champions League would mean more at Arsenal – did little to endear him to his former supporters. Since then, he has also made headlines by shushing Chelsea fans during a disallowed goal celebration in November.

Reflecting on his time at Arsenal, Havertz said: “It’s the best thing I could have done. I’m so glad for everyone who has helped me during my time here. We’ve just got started, and I hope I’ll continue with good form, play well, win titles, and help the team to win something.”

Although Chelsea’s struggles continue, the club has not appeared to miss the German midfielder. His replacement, Nicolas Jackson, has impressed with 25 goals in 58 games, while Christopher Nkunku has also contributed with 12 goals so far this season.

With Arsenal now pushing for silverware and Chelsea struggling to regain their former dominance, Havertz’s words are unlikely to go down well with the Blues faithful.
