Kane Set for Potential Return Before Year’s End – Kompany

123

Bayern Munich boss Vincent Kompany is hopeful that Harry Kane will recover from his recent injury in time to play again before the winter break.

 Kane’s Injury and Recovery Timeline

Harry Kane limped off during Bayern Munich’s 2-2 Bundesliga draw with Borussia Dortmund on Saturday, raising concerns about his availability. Despite this setback, Kompany remains optimistic, stating, “There’s a chance he’ll play again this year, but he’ll definitely miss a few games.”

Kane will miss Bayern’s DFB-Pokal clash against defending champions Bayer Leverkusen on Tuesday, but the England captain is expected to recover in time for a potential return before the winter break, which starts on December 22.

 Kane’s Impact and Bayern’s Alternatives

The 31-year-old striker has been in phenomenal form this season, netting 20 goals in 19 appearances across all competitions. However, Kompany acknowledged that Kane’s absence will be a challenge for the squad.

“You cannot replace the goals or the player one-for-one – that’s why he is a top player,” Kompany admitted.

Despite this, the Belgian manager expressed confidence in Bayern’s depth. He highlighted the attacking options at his disposal, including Thomas Müller, Mathys Tel, Serge Gnabry, Michael Olise, Leroy Sane, and Jamal Musiala, adding:

“We have talent in the team and need to solve it differently.”

DFB-Pokal Challenge Against Leverkusen

Bayern Munich is looking to improve their record in the DFB-Pokal after failing to reach the semi-finals since their last triumph in 2020. The team faces a tough challenge against Leverkusen, last season’s domestic double winners.

Kompany emphasized the importance of the game:

“We play the cup holders – one of the top two or three teams in Germany – and I hope our performance will match the importance of the game.”
