Katie Boulter Secures Great Britain’s Spot in United Cup Quarter-Finals

Great Britain finished above Australia and Argentina in Group F

Straight-Set Victory Sends GB Past Hosts Australia

Katie Boulter delivered a dominant performance to propel Great Britain into the quarter-finals of the United Cup in Sydney. Boulter defeated Olivia Gadecki of Australia in straight sets, winning 6-2, 6-1 in just 70 minutes.

With GB needing a straight-sets win in any of the three rubbers to advance as Group F winners, Boulter’s triumph ensured their progression to the next stage.

Boulter Rises to the Pressure

After the match, Boulter revealed the added pressure she faced:
“I’ve been trying to avoid all the stats, but we were at dinner with [former British number one] Laura Robson last night, and she told me I had to win in straight sets,” Boulter said.
“So I was feeling the pressure from last night.”

Great Britain had previously beaten Argentina 2-1 in their opening tie earlier in the week.

Upcoming Matches

Although Boulter has already secured GB’s quarter-final spot, the tie against Australia will continue with:

  • Men’s Singles: Billy Harris faces Alex de Minaur, who is also Boulter’s fiancé.
  • Mixed Doubles: Boulter is scheduled to compete, though De Minaur will not participate.
