Tierney Will Be Celtic Player by Summer – Rodgers Confirms Move

Kieran Tierney is out of contract with Arsenal this summer

Celtic manager Brendan Rodgers has officially confirmed that Kieran Tierney will return to the club from Arsenal by the summer of 2025.

The Scottish champions are still hopeful of bringing the 27-year-old Scotland international back as early as January, but an agreement has already been reached to finalize the move at the end of the season.

Meanwhile, Alex Valle’s loan spell from Barcelona is being cut short, with Rodgers confirming that the left-back won’t play for Celtic again.

🟢 Tierney’s Return: January or Summer?

🔹 Contract Status: Tierney’s deal with Arsenal expires this summer, making him available for a free transfer.

🔹 Celtic’s Priority: Rodgers and Celtic are keen to bring him back in January if an agreement can be reached with the Gunners.

🔹 Rodgers’ Statement:
“I think we’re agreed that it will definitely take place in the summer. If we can do it beforehand, then great. But, if we were able to do it, of course, we would like to do that, but that’s out of our control at this moment in time.”

Tierney has struggled for regular game time at Arsenal, making just one start and four substitute appearances since returning from injury. His move to Celtic would mark a return to the club where he made his breakthrough, before joining Arsenal in 2019.

🚪 Valle Leaves, Como Interested in Loan Move

Celtic’s left-back situation is evolving rapidly, with Alex Valle’s time at the club coming to an early end.

🔹 Rodgers confirmed Valle is already back in Barcelona and won’t feature for Celtic again.
🔹 Serie B club Como are reportedly interested in signing Valle on loan for the rest of the season.
🔹 Valle made 19 appearances for Celtic but largely played as a backup to Greg Taylor.

🗣 Rodgers on Valle’s departure:
“Alex won’t play again. Sadly, he’s in Barcelona at the moment, and he will probably then move on to another team. We’re disappointed that he’s left, but we have to move on.”

🔄 Celtic Looking for Kyogo Furuhashi Replacement

The departure of Kyogo Furuhashi to Rennes has left a major gap in Celtic’s attack. The Japanese striker was a fan favorite and had been one of the club’s top goal-scorers.

🔹 Jota has returned to Celtic from Rennes as part of the transfer.
🔹 Rodgers admitted disappointment in losing Kyogo, calling him “a real iconic player for the club.”
🔹 Celtic are actively searching for a new striker to fill Kyogo’s role.

“Clearly, we wouldn’t have wanted to sell him, but he made it clear he wanted to move, and when that’s the case, we have to find the best solution for the club,” Rodgers said.

🏆 Champions League Preparations: Key Absences for Celtic

Celtic will face Aston Villa in their final Champions League game before the play-offs, but several key players will be missing:

🚫 Kyogo Furuhashi (transferred to Rennes)
🚫 Daizen Maeda (suspended)
🚫 Cameron Carter-Vickers (injured)
🚫 James Forrest (injured)

Rodgers emphasized that the team is already through to the play-offs, so there’s no need to rush Carter-Vickers back from injury.

“Missing those two [Kyogo and Maeda] makes a difference, but other players can come in and have an opportunity to impress,” he added.
