Lando Norris Leads Singapore GP Practice Session 2 as George Russell Crashes

Lando Norris set the pace in the second practice session of the 2024 Singapore Grand Prix, finishing ahead of Ferrari’s Charles Leclerc and Carlos Sainz. The session, held under the dazzling Singapore evening lights, saw plenty of action as drivers switched between tyre compounds and battled for top times.

Early in the session, Charles Leclerc initially took the lead with a time of 1:32.788 on medium compound tyres. However, his Ferrari teammate Carlos Sainz briefly overtook him with a lap of 1:32.644, before Leclerc reclaimed the top spot by a margin of just 0.017 seconds.

As drivers moved to soft-compound tyres midway through the session, Alex Albon briefly led with a 1:31.650 lap. Lando Norris then put in a blistering time of 1:30.727 on softs to take the lead, with Leclerc close behind, just 0.087 seconds slower.

Leclerc, while pushing hard, touched the wall at the exit of Turn 14 and radioed Ferrari to check for any damage. Norris also had a close call, reporting to his team that he had “hit the wall hard” with around 19 minutes remaining in the session.

The session was further disrupted by a crash involving Mercedes’ George Russell, who hit the barriers late on, bringing out the yellow flags and ending his session prematurely.
