LAWSON REVEALS HE LEARNED LAST SEASON HE’D REPLACE RICCIARDO

Liam Lawson has revealed that he was informed last season he would take over for Daniel Ricciardo.

The new driver for VCARB, Lawson, stated that Red Bull had indicated last year that there was a high likelihood he would step into Ricciardo’s seat. Lawson attracted attention with his performances during the five races he participated in while Ricciardo was injured, and he will race for VCARB starting from the United States Grand Prix.

Additionally, Lawson noted that he has been preparing to take over the seat at Red Bull’s sister team, Visa Cash App RB, since last year. In an interview on the F1 Nation podcast, he said, “I knew this was temporary last season. The goal was to secure a full-time seat, and now I’ve got that chance.”

“Christian told me a year ago, ‘I’m going to give you a race seat.’ I knew everything was planned, but Formula 1 is a rollercoaster, and things change every weekend. Although it was tough to wait at that moment, it’s now my turn.”
