Liverpool Given Major Boost in Pursuit of Benfica Star Orkun Kokcu

After his father, Halis Kokcu, accepted the prospect of a move to Anfield, Liverpool’s pursuit of Benfica midfielder Orkun Kokcu has gained momentum. Liverpool has long been interested in the Turkish international, who is currently making an impression in the Champions League. His impressive performances under former Feyenoord manager Arne Slot have further increased the fascination.

At Feyenoord, where he played a key role and scored 21 goals in 97 games, Kokcu previously worked with Arne Slot. The prospect of a reunion has gained legitimacy due to their close relationship, since Liverpool’s close ties to Slot may provide them leverage. The positive relationship that Slot and Kokcu’s father have maintained lends credence to the transfer rumors.

WHAT KOKCU’S FATHER SAID

In an interview with ESPN NL, Halis Kokcu was asked about the potential move, responding:

“Arne is a good friend of ours. He has been through a lot of things with Orkun. Yes, why not? It’s possible.”

With a price tag set at £67 million, Kokcu would represent a significant investment for Liverpool, potentially bolstering their midfield options for both Premier League and European competition.
