Liverpool’s pursuit of Bournemouth left-back Milos Kerkez has been confirmed by Hungarian sporting director Istvan Salloi, following a conversation with current Reds midfielder Dominik Szoboszlai. The Premier League leaders are reportedly targeting the 21-year-old as a potential long-term solution to their left-back position.
Liverpool have relied on Andy Robertson and Kostas Tsimikas at left-back this season, but concerns over the fitness of both players, particularly Robertson, have led the club to explore alternatives. Kerkez has emerged as a strong candidate, with multiple top clubs, including Chelsea, Manchester United, and Real Madrid, also reportedly monitoring the young defender’s situation.
Salloi, sporting director of Hungarian side Zalaegerszegi, revealed that Liverpool are serious about signing Kerkez, stating, “[Kerkez] is in very good shape. His signing is absolutely on the table at Liverpool, and the sporting director [Richard Hughes] who brought him to England is now at Liverpool.”
Salloi also confirmed that Szoboszlai, a compatriot of Kerkez, had spoken about the transfer, further supporting the claims of Liverpool’s interest. “We also spoke with Dominik Szoboszlai about this, and he knows that [Kerkez] is in the picture and that their interest is real,” Salloi added.
Kerkez joined Bournemouth in 2023 for a £15m fee, and with his current contract running until 2028, he is expected to command a significantly higher price tag should he move next summer. His impressive performances since arriving in the Premier League, along with his previous success at AZ Alkmaar, have caught the attention of several major European clubs.
With Liverpool’s left-back options under scrutiny, Kerkez could be a key target for the club when the transfer window reopens in 2025.
