Lyon’s Statement on Wilfried Zaha Following Squad Exclusion

Lyon head coach Pierre Sage has addressed the situation surrounding Wilfried Zaha, who was recently excluded from the squad. In an interview with RMC Sport, Sage shared that he had a constructive discussion with Zaha, emphasizing what the club expects from him and why he was signed in the first place.

“We had a good conversation about the issues we faced last week. We didn’t exclude him just for the sake of punishment,” Sage stated.

He added, “I told him that he needs to understand what we expect from him and why we brought him to Lyon. It’s not about his abilities, but rather his commitment to fight alongside the team.”

Wilfried Zaha’s Season Performance

Zaha, who played one match for Galatasaray this season before moving to Lyon, has made two appearances for the French club. In his three total games across both teams, the 31-year-old winger has registered one assist.
