Manchester United Eyeing Bayern Munich Stars Leroy Sane and Leon Goretzka

Leroy Sane and Leon Goretzka of Bayern Munich are reportedly two players Manchester United is pursuing to bolster their roster after a dismal start to the year.

Florian Plettenberg of Sky Sports reports that Manchester United is keeping a close eye on Leon Goretzka and Leroy Sane’s circumstances in front of the January transfer window. Goretzka is being investigated as a possible addition by manager Erik ten Hag in an effort to strengthen the midfield and increase defensive stability. Sane, who has reached the last 12 months of his current Bayern Munich deal, is another player that United is keeping an eye on.

Conditions and Difficulties with Contracts

Sane is a more immediate prospect due to his contract situation, whilst Goretzka’s Bayern contract expires in 2026. Plettenberg indicates that both players are unlikely to leave Bayern in the middle of the season, despite United’s interest, thus it will be difficult for the Red Devils to sign them in January.

United’s Transfer Plans and Struggles

In the summer of 2024, United signed six players, including Matthijs de Ligt and Noussair Mazraoui of Bayern Munich. But the team’s season has started badly; they are now 14th in the Premier League and have lost their previous five games in all competitions. In an effort to turn things around in the second half of the season, Ten Hag intends to make more acquisitions.
