Manchester United’s Worst Start Since 1986 Highlights Challenge Ahead for Amorim

Red Devils Set a 38-Year Premier League Start Record

With their poorest league campaign start in 38 years, Manchester United has fallen to a new low this season. With just 12 points from their first 10 games, United is currently ranked 13th in the Premier League standings after a 1-1 tie with Chelsea at Old Trafford. They haven’t played this badly since the 1986–87 campaign, when they only scored eight points in the first ten games.

Erik ten Hag was fired due to United’s performance, and new manager Ruben Amorim now has a big job to do to turn the season around. Sir Alex Ferguson succeeded Ron Atkinson as manager the last time United encountered such a situation, changing the club’s history. Amorim is now given a similarly difficult task as he assumes leadership of a team that is in dire need of a comeback.
