Martin: “I’m fighting ‘against the world’ for the championship”
Jorge Martin believes his rival Francesco Bagnaia is riding in a factory Ducati team that is ‘built to win’ and that he and Pramac are competing ‘against the world’ in MotoGP this year.Jorge Martin is on the verge of winning the MotoGP world title, with 485 points, 24 points ahead of second-placed Francesco Bagnaia.
Satellite teams have historically been at a greater disadvantage than factory teams, but Ducati has forged a closer relationship with the teams it supplies bikes to over the last few years, transforming the competition in MotoGP.
While the lines between satellite and factory teams have blurred in recent years, Pramac remains an independent team and does not have the same resources as a manufacturer.”Bagnaia has been in MotoGP for six years; he is in an official team, he has everything, he has the network and he is ready to win,” said Martin.
“I have a team of 12 people who are fighting alone against the world.”
“Success is not just from me, it’s from all the people around me and I want to succeed for them, that’s what motivates and excites me,” he said.
Bagnaia has proven to be one of the best riders of his generation after winning back-to-back titles with Ducati in 2022 and 2023. He has put up a strong fight against Martin this year, winning 10 of the 19 grands prix so far, with another six victories in the sprints.”It’s a great pride to be fighting for the championship at this point in the season and to have a rival like Bagnaia, because it makes me a better driver,” said Martin.
“Having Pecco at the top level and being able to compete with him and push him makes what we both do more valuable.”
