The fans at Estadio Centenario came to say goodbye to Luis Suarez, one of the country’s greatest players. And this farewell included a message from Lionel Messi.

Suarez scored 69 goals in 143 appearances and played a vital role in Uruguay’s international tournaments, including the 2011 Copa America triumph. Suarez has become an iconic figure for Uruguayan football fans. After the match, Messi’s video message was broadcast on the giant screen. Everyone burst into tears.
