Essex County Fire and Rescue Service responded to the scene of the crash on Saturday after receiving calls at 13:02 GMT, successfully releasing a man trapped in his car by 13:45. The severity of Antonio’s injuries was not initially revealed.
Essex Police later confirmed they were investigating the serious crash involving a Ferrari, urging witnesses and those with dashcam footage to come forward. Messages of support for Antonio flooded in from Premier League clubs such as Arsenal, Chelsea, and Manchester City, as well as former teams like Southampton, Reading, Sheffield Wednesday, and Colchester. BBC presenter Gary Lineker also shared his best wishes on Saturday’s edition of Match of the Day.
