Mikel Arteta Furious Over Leandro Trossard’s Red Card Against Man City, Citing Jeremy Doku Incident

Arsenal manager Mikel Arteta was left fuming after Leandro Trossard was sent off during Arsenal’s 2-2 draw with Manchester City. Arteta expressed frustration over the decision, particularly because City’s Jeremy Doku escaped punishment for a similar infraction earlier in the match.

The tense Premier League clash at the Etihad Stadium saw Arsenal take a 2-1 lead at half-time, but their momentum was derailed when Trossard received a red card just before the break for kicking the ball away. Arteta highlighted the inconsistency in the officiating, pointing out that Doku had done something similar in the first half but went unpunished.

With Arsenal down to 10 men, they were forced into an ultra-defensive setup in the second half. Despite their efforts to keep City at bay, John Stones netted a dramatic 98th-minute equaliser, securing a point for the home side.

WHAT MIKEL ARTETA SAID

Speaking to Sky Sports after the match, Arteta expressed his frustration: “It is very obvious, I don’t need to talk about it. I think the red card is very clear, very obvious what people think. It is not my job to come here and judge what happened. My job is to survive in one of the most difficult environments there is in football for 55 minutes and try to get things done to survive.”

He added: “The rest is not my job, but it has already happened twice in five games, which is very worrying to see in the best league in the world. [The red card] makes the situation impossible. It is very, very hard to play with 11 players; with 10 it is impossible. With 10, you have to defend your six-yard box time and time again.”
