Mohamed Salah has revealed that his current favourite teammate at Liverpool is Darwin Nunez. The Egyptian superstar made the admission during a fan Q&A, where he expressed his fondness for playing alongside the Uruguayan striker.
Salah, who has been a key figure in Liverpool’s attack for several seasons, acknowledged that his favourite partnership used to be with Roberto Firmino. However, the 32-year-old has since developed a strong liking for Nunez, despite some of the criticisms the 25-year-old forward has faced since joining the club in 2022 from Benfica.

Nunez has made 114 appearances for the Reds, scoring 36 goals, but his time at Anfield has been marked by his unpredictable playing style and occasional finishing struggles. Yet, Salah has defended his teammate, saying, “A lot of people don’t like him, but I like playing with him. He has different skills that not many people understand.”
This season, Nunez has had some competition for a starting spot, starting just nine matches across all competitions. He’s managed three goals and two assists so far, a far cry from Salah’s remarkable form, with the Egyptian leading the Premier League in goal contributions this season with 21, four clear of second-place Cole Palmer.
Despite Nunez’s erratic performances, Salah‘s praise highlights the importance of the Uruguayan’s unique qualities in Liverpool’s attack. As Salah’s contract situation remains uncertain, with his current deal set to expire in the summer, fans will be hoping the forward remains a crucial part of the team as the Reds continue to fight for top honours both domestically and in Europe.
