Olympiacos Piraeus forward Moses Wright will miss the remainder of the 2024-25 season due to a health issue, the club has confirmed. The news was revealed after Olympiacos’ 90-96 defeat to Paris Basketball in EuroLeague Round 13 on Friday night.
Following the game, Christos Bafes, the sports director of Olympiacos, stated that Wright’s condition has improved, but he will not be able to return to action for the rest of the year. “It’s purely a medical issue. He’s fine, he’ll be with us, but he’ll be out all season,” Bafes said during the postgame press conference.
This season, Wright had been averaging 4.7 points, 2.4 rebounds, and 0.5 assists in 12:53 minutes per game in the EuroLeague.
Head coach Giorgos Bartzokas confirmed the team is already looking into the market for a replacement. With Nikola Milutinov and Moustapha Fall as the only available centers, Bartzokas acknowledged the team’s need for another player to cover Wright’s absence.
“We have to make a decision. We’ve had a heavy workload with four games, and we’ve been monitoring the market for players. We need to find someone who can help us,” Bartzokas explained.
The coach emphasized the need for European experience in any potential signing, as they are keen on finding a player who can immediately contribute to the team. “We don’t want someone who hasn’t played for a long time. We need a player who can step in and help us now,” he concluded.
Olympiacos will continue to search for the right fit to fill the gap left by Wright as they aim to strengthen their squad for the remainder of the season.
