Nagelsmann creates striker surprise!

Arsenal star Kai Havertz (25) was considered the frontrunner to start the game, as he had been a key player during the home European Championship. However, just like in the 5-0 win against Hungary in Düsseldorf, he will continue to play behind the main striker. Instead, Stuttgart’s forward Undav will lead the attack, ahead of Borussia Dortmund’s Maximilian Beier (21) and VfB Stuttgart’s Chris Führich (26), both of whom had hopes of starting after Niclas Füllkrug’s withdrawal.

Undav will play his fourth international match, but it will be his first time in the DFB starting eleven. Nagelsmann’s reasons for choosing Undav include his desire to make minimal changes to the well-functioning starting lineup and the need for a player with physical presence up front, an area where Undav has a slight edge over Havertz.

Striker surprise for Germany!
