Naples Zoo Honors Lukaku by Naming New Jaguar After Him
Napoli’s star Romelu Lukaku, currently leading Serie A, has been honored in a unique way. The Naples Zoo named a newly born jaguar cub after the Napoli forward, recognizing his impact since joining the club from Chelsea this summer. Lukaku has stepped up to lead his team’s championship pursuit, particularly in the absence of Victor Osimhen, who is on loan at Galatasaray.
The zoo introduced the newborn jaguar to the public on Friday, and staff decided to honor the Belgian footballer by naming the cub after him. Dr. Fiorella Saggese, the zoo’s curator, stated, “The zoo is close to the stadium, and we live every match; we are all great football fans.” She explained that the name was chosen as a tribute to Napoli and as a wish for good luck for the season.
Impressive Performance
Since returning to Serie A at the end of summer, Lukaku has been delivering impressive performances. Having previously played for Inter and Roma, he has made a strong start at Napoli, contributing four goals and four assists in his first eight Serie A matches, scoring in every game. Napoli has also made headlines with successful results in their first ten matches of the season, currently sitting four points ahead of reigning champions Inter at the top of the Serie A table.
The zoo’s decision has sparked considerable discussion on social media, with some Napoli fans suggesting that the move might even spark jealousy in Osimhen, who is now playing elsewhere.
