SAINZ: “I SAW NORRIS STRUGGLING WITH HIS TIRES BEFORE THE LAST-LAP MOVE”

Carlos Sainz, who finished second in the 2024 US Grand Prix sprint race after a last-lap move, shared his thoughts after the session.

Sainz overtook Lando Norris on the final lap to secure second place in the sprint race. After the intense battle, Sainz said: “It was a lot of fun out there.”
“It was a good sprint. If sprints are like this, you always enjoy that extra action.”
“The first five laps were especially hectic, a lot was happening. Towards the end, I also started struggling with my tires, but I saw that Lando was struggling too, and I thought if I could get within DRS range, I might have a chance for second.”
“We made a move into Turn 1, and it worked out, it was fun.”
“This is encouraging for tomorrow, it shows we might have a good chance. Our car wasn’t in the best shape during qualifying, but we’ll try to start as far forward as possible.”
