Legendary Striker Olivier Giroud Announces Heartfelt Farewell
Legendary French national team striker Olivier Giroud has officially announced his emotional farewell. The star forward had declared before the start of Euro 2024 that it would be his last dance on the international stage. Unfortunately, the experienced player’s final match for France ended in heartbreak with a semi-final defeat to Spain, resulting in a painful exit from the tournament.
Olivier Giroud Bids Farewell to the French National Team
The world-renowned striker has retired from international football as one of the best in Les Bleus’ history. With 57 goals in 137 appearances, he became France’s all-time leading scorer, making him the country’s third-most capped player after Hugo Lloris and Lilian Thuram.
Emotional Farewell Message
The 37-year-old Giroud shared the following message on Instagram: “Now a page turns… I’m flying towards new adventures. From now on, I am a supporter of Les Bleus. This French team, which I have served for 13 years, will remain etched in my heart forever. It is my greatest pride and my most beautiful memory.”
New Adventure: MLS and LAFC
Olivier Giroud has joined MLS team LAFC as a free agent this summer. Before making his debut for his new club, the player is expected to take a short vacation, after which he will continue playing top-level football.
He is not a good player unless he comes out during a period when French football is good.
