Paul Pogba’s Shocking Mourinho Confession: “We Need to Talk”

Paul Pogba, initially banned from football for four years due to a doping violation, had his suspension reduced to 18 months by the Court of Arbitration for Sport (CAS) on October 4th. Pogba, who will be eligible to return on March 10, 2025, recently broke his silence with some striking comments about José Mourinho, now the head coach of Fenerbahçe, during an interview with the Daily Mail.

Pogba’s Relationship with Mourinho

Regarding Mourinho, Pogba said, “I have a lot of respect for Mourinho. If I saw him, I would give him a big hug. Our relationship was like a couple’s—constantly breaking up and getting back together. It started great; he was one of the reasons I returned to Manchester. I don’t know exactly how things turned into a nightmare between us. But one day, we’ll need to sit down and talk about it.”

Reflections on Manchester United

Pogba discussed his time at Manchester United, especially the transition from Mourinho to Ole Gunnar Solskjaer. He admitted that despite giving everything to the club, things were not progressing, which led him to consider leaving. However, he decided to stay for the sake of professionalism, even as injuries plagued his time at the club.

Learning from the Doping Case

Pogba mentioned that taking the supplements wasn’t a mistake in itself but that he should have been more thorough in checking their legitimacy. He stated, “The supplements were prescribed by a professional, but my mistake was not getting a third opinion to confirm their legitimacy.”

Future Goals and Comeback Plans

Pogba emphasized his ambition to return to the field with renewed passion. “I still have my goals and dreams. My focus is on getting back to the pitch, proving my worth, and being ready to join a team by January,” he said.

Praise for Kenan Yıldız

Pogba also had high praise for his Juventus teammate Kenan Yıldız, calling him “one of the best young talents out there” and expressing his belief that Yıldız deserves the No. 10 shirt.
