Paul Scholes: “Man Utd Going Backwards Under Ten Hag’s Coaching”

Saying the Red Devils seem “poorly coached” and are moving backwards, Manchester United star Paul Scholes has not held back in his criticism of Erik ten Hag. Man Utd now lies in the bottom half of the Premier League table following a terrible 3-0 loss at Old Trafford to Tottenham, which fuels speculations over Ten Hag’s future as head coach.

“Wherever is the next win coming from?”

Speaking to the Daily Mail, Scholes was unreserved in his criticism of the team’s direction. “You never find where the next great performance or win is originating,” he remarked. “I doubt the players even know what the management expects of them. They resemble a badly guided squad. It’s challenging to see.”

He said that other teams like Liverpool, Man City, and Arsenal are clearly moving forward whereas United seems to be mired in neutral. Two and a bit years have passed, and I sense no development. Results point to us perhaps going the opposite direction. Though there is little optimism, all supporters want only some direction. Right now the team seems so distant from being anywhere near competitive.”

Ten Hag’s Pressure Builds

The most recent setback against Spurs simply serves to heighten Ten Hag’s already existing pressure from both supporters and analysts challenging team strategy, organization, and lack of development. Scholes’s remarks simply fan the flames around Ten Hag’s time at Old Trafford as the argument on whether United can recover to the top heats on.
