McLaren driver Oscar Piastri has addressed questions surrounding McLaren’s striking rear wing design and the possibility of future team orders as the 2024 season progresses.
In response to speculation about the legality of the rear wing, Piastri clarified, “It’s legal. As long as it passes the tests, there is no problem. We are constantly being tested, and we’ve passed every one of them. This is not the magic reason why we are so competitive. As long as it passes the tests, I’m happy.”

When asked about potential team orders, Piastri acknowledged that teammate Lando Norris has a stronger shot at the drivers’ championship. “Lando is still ahead in the championship, and, to be honest, he has a more realistic chance of winning the drivers’ title,” he said.
Referring to their teamwork, Piastri highlighted the race in Baku as an example of McLaren’s racing culture. “In Baku, we showed how we want to race. Lando helped us there, and it showed our racing culture perfectly. I want to win, but if I can help Lando’s championship challenge, I’m happy to do so.”
