Manchester United and FC Porto play to a draw in the Europa League.
Manchester United’s second UEFA Europa League game of the 2024–25 season took place at FC Porto’s Estadio Dragao. They were looking to get back on track after losing 3-0 at home to Tottenham. Even though Manchester United got off to a good start, they lost again when Porto came back from behind to tie the game.
United started the game with confidence and quickly took the lead thanks to Marcus Rashford’s clever footwork and a blocked shot. Soon after, Rasmus Hojlund scored again to double the guests’ lead after a quick counterattack. But Diogo Costa’s failed save made it easy for United to score two goals.
When Porto Fights Back
The hosts were not to be taken lightly, and they quickly responded to Manchester United’s early lead. A strong header from Samu Omorodion made the goalkeeper stop it, but Pepe scored quickly on the rebound to cut the lead in half. Just before halftime, Omorodion scored again, this time by nodding in a second goal to tie the game and make the Porto fans go crazy.
After the break, Omorodion scored a hard finish for Porto to complete their comeback. He took full advantage of a counterattack to put his team ahead. During the whole game, the young forward, who was on loan from Atletico Madrid, caused problems for United’s defense because he was strong and good at flying.
