Poyraz Yildirim: I Worked Hard and Fought for These 10 Seconds

Poyraz Yıldırım, a player for the Turkish U21 National Team and Trabzonspor, expressed his joy after scoring in his first U21 National Team match, stating, “It was my first U21 National Team match, and I scored with my first touch of the ball. I’m very happy and proud. Of course, this isn’t just a coincidence. I worked hard and fought for these 10 seconds. God smiled upon me.”

In the 9th match of Group A in the 2025 UEFA European U21 Championship Qualifiers, the Turkish U21 National Team defeated Latvia 3-0. After the match, the 19-year-old striker shared his thoughts with Demiroren News Agency (DHA).

Yıldırım, proud of scoring in his debut, said, “I’m very happy that we won our first match with coach Gokhan. This was my first U21 National Team game, and I scored with my first touch of the ball. I’m very happy and proud. These moments aren’t just luck. I worked hard and fought for them, and God rewarded me.”

Aiming for the Senior National Team

The young striker shared his ambition, stating, “I’ve played in all national team categories since I was 14. Hopefully, in the future, I aim to represent our country with the Senior National Team.”

‘We Are Working Hard at Trabzonspor’

Discussing Trabzonspor, Yıldırım added, “At big clubs, ups and downs can happen. Our coach Senol has arrived, and we’re working very hard. I believe we will turn things around soon. We have a good squad and a solid technical team. In time, we will reap the benefits.”
