PSG Sign Napoli Forward Kvaratskhelia Until 2029

Khvicha Kvaratskhelia was a key part of the Napoli side which won Serie A in 2022-23.

Paris Saint-Germain (PSG) have completed the signing of Napoli forward Khvicha Kvaratskhelia, securing the Georgian international on a contract until June 2029. The 23-year-old, nicknamed “Kvaradona” after Napoli legend Diego Maradona, arrives in Paris as PSG’s first signing of the January transfer window and the first Georgian player in the club’s history.

A Big Move for PSG and Kvaratskhelia

Reports suggest PSG paid €70m (£59m) plus add-ons to bring the winger to Ligue 1, following his request to leave Serie A leaders Napoli after failing to agree on a contract extension. Kvaratskhelia expressed his excitement about joining PSG:
“It’s a dream to be here. I’ve heard so many positive things about PSG. I feel immense pride in joining this great club and I’m looking forward to wearing my new colours.”

Kvaratskhelia was instrumental in Napoli’s title-winning campaign and has amassed an impressive 54 goals and assists in 107 appearances since joining the Italian side in 2022 for just £9m from Georgian club Dinamo Batumi. His performances at Euro 2024, where Georgia reached the last 16, further highlighted his potential on the international stage.

PSG’s First Signing of the January Window

PSG, currently seven points clear at the top of Ligue 1, view Kvaratskhelia as a vital addition to their squad as they push for domestic and European glory. The club lauded the winger as “one of the most exciting players in world football” and praised his fighting spirit and team-first mentality.

The Georgian star joins a PSG side preparing for key fixtures, including a Ligue 1 clash against Lens on Saturday and a Champions League showdown with Manchester City on Wednesday.

A Rising Star with Big Shoes to Fill

Nicknamed “Kvaradona” by Napoli fans, Kvaratskhelia carries high expectations as he embarks on this new chapter with PSG. His creativity, goal-scoring ability, and resilience are expected to enhance PSG’s attacking options and provide another dimension to their play.

The move marks a significant step in Kvaratskhelia’s career and PSG’s ongoing mission to dominate European football.
