Ali Camli re-elected as president

In the extraordinary general assembly of Trendyol Super Lig team Bellona Kayserispor, current president Ali Çamlı, who had previously announced he would not run for the position, was re-elected as president.

The congress, held at the Kadir Has Congress Center Sports Hall, began with the election of the board and members, a moment of silence, and the singing of the national anthem. This was followed by the voting on activity and audit reports.

In his speech at the congress, President Ali Çamlı mentioned that he had been the president of Kayserispor for 33 months. He stated that today would be his last day as Kayserispor’s president, recalling that he had announced his decision to step down and not run for re-election some time ago.

Çamlı said, “I am not a candidate today. I waited for those who spoke on behalf of Kayserispor to come to this hall and run for the position, but unfortunately, they only have their words and phones. They have nothing else; I will not speak further.” He added that Kayserispor has no income and explained:

“There are two reasons for this situation. Firstly, Kayserispor will not have any income for perhaps 5 years. I leave such an inhuman act to God. This is an unprecedented situation in the history of the Republic of Turkey since football clubs were established. Everyone who has served or been president at Kayserispor has receivables. Other clubs’ administrators also have receivables, but no club president has ever taken money they claimed to have given to ‘Kayserispor’ and used it to secure personal bank loans. Secondly, if this club is to survive, it will necessarily rely on sponsorships from distinguished people in Kayseri or large firms operating in the city. Street gossip has blocked all possible aid to our beloved brand. This is the second reason.”

Çamlı expressed his desire for the city to support Kayserispor and mentioned his disbelief at the current state of the club compared to when he took it over. He emphasized that he wants concrete actions to help Kayserispor survive and mentioned his serious health issues. Çamlı stated, “Despite my serious health problems, since the decision for the general assembly, we have tried to manage Kayserispor’s issues with my board members, but today it’s over for me. May God be pleased with you all. All my rights are also dedicated to Kayserispor and my city.”

MHP Kayseri MP Baki Ersoy, who also spoke at the congress, noted that an extraordinary general assembly implies an extraordinary situation. He emphasized the need for resolving the club’s issues through consultation and assured that Kayserispor would not be relegated, and they would do everything possible to prevent that.

Ersoy announced that a list for the board of directors would be presented following consultations with Kayserispor’s Honorary President Mehmet Özhaseki, Governor Gökmen Çiçek, and Metropolitan Mayor Memduh Büyükkılıç. He added, “As a result of our consultations, we will provide a board list. If God wills, we will have this list elected. Based on our consultations, Ali Çamlı is the candidate for Kayserispor’s presidency.”

After the speeches, Ali Çamlı, who had previously announced he would not run, was re-elected as president by unanimous vote of the delegates. Çamlı thanked those who participated and said, “My friends and elders want me to continue leading this ship and be patient a little longer. I will continue in this role to avoid any problems for my city and my beloved club and in hopes that a worthy person will emerge to manage the club.”
