Man Utd Flop Antony Brutally Told He’s ‘Too Lightweight for the Premier League’ as Newcastle Transfer Links Dismissed

Manchester United winger Antony has been labelled “too lightweight for the Premier League” amid reports linking him with a move to Newcastle, which have been firmly dismissed.

The Brazilian, who joined United from Ajax in 2022 in a highly anticipated move, has struggled to meet expectations at Old Trafford. With only 11 goals in 83 appearances across all competitions, Antony has found himself out of favour under Erik ten Hag, featuring for just one minute in the Premier League this season.

Speaking on Football Insider’s Inside Track podcast, former player Paul Robinson shared his view on the situation: “Antony? No, I don’t think anybody at Newcastle would touch him. There’s a good player there, but he’s too lightweight for the Premier League. He takes too much time on the ball, and the league is too quick for him.”

Robinson added that Antony may be better suited to leagues like La Liga or Ligue 1, where the pace is different. “Newcastle are competing at the same level as Manchester United—both aiming for European football and a top-four finish. The Newcastle fans and the board won’t see Antony as someone who would improve the team in any way,” Robinson concluded.
