Aubameyang Opens Up on Arsenal Exit and Strained Relationship with Arteta
Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang has shared information regarding the problems that caused him to leave Arsenal, providing insights into his tense relationship with head coach Mikel Arteta. A breakdown between the two eventually resulted from the striker’s persistent disciplinary issues, especially those pertaining to timeliness.
Aubameyang’s Account of the Fallout
In an interview with the Colinterview podcast, Aubameyang recalled a pivotal incident that exacerbated tensions. “I arrived late to a training session because I had an accident on the way to Colney.” he explained. As a consequence, Arteta excluded him from a key match against Tottenham. However, after the game, Arteta visited Aubameyang’s home, where they had a “frank conversation” which the striker described as “respectful.”
Regret and Reflections on Responsibility
Aubameyang expressed regret over how the situation unfolded, clarifying that his intention was never to disrupt the team’s harmony. “I never wanted to hurt Arteta or the club with my behaviour. I share the responsibility for what I’ve done.” he stated, noting that he felt deeply disappointed about not being able to continue with the club.
