Aziz Yılıdırm Denies Arthur Zico’s Statements About Volkan Demirel

Former Fenerbahce president Aziz Yılıdırm made a statement regarding former coach Arthur Zico’s memory of Volkan Demirel related to the Sevilla match.

Aziz Yılıdırm responded to Zico’s claim on a YouTube program that “President Aziz Yılıdırm wanted me to take Volkan Demirel out of the game at halftime during the Sevilla match. And I received an order from there to take him out. I told him I wouldn’t take him out. He saved me with the three penalties he saved.” Yılıdırm’s statement is as follows:

“There is a false statement by former coach Arthur Zico on a YouTube channel regarding my alleged instruction to take our goalkeeper Volkan Demirel out during halftime of the Sevilla match. During halftime of the Sevilla match, I was busy having a meeting with Mahmut Uslu and Neset Yalcın regarding increasing our Champions League broadcasting revenues with UEFA President Platini and Secretary General Infantino. I did not go to the locker room at halftime, and there was no intervention as Zico mentioned. If I had intervened, I would have shared it openly and without hesitation with the public. After the match, I went to the locker room with my executive colleagues. What is the purpose of Zico bringing this claim to the agenda 16 years later?

I advise our former Brazilian players, who have made it a habit to use my name in every interview for more interaction, to urgently abandon this habit. If necessary, I will share my experiences with them, and everyone will learn the whole truth.”
