“Things were done that will make you say, ‘This can’t be real.’”
Dorukhan Tokoz, currently playing for Eyupspor, made statements regarding his departure from Besiktas. He expressed his desire to stay with the black-and-whites but decided to leave due to the treatment he received after his injury.
Having celebrated a championship with Besiktas, Tokoz stated that the actions taken against him following his knee injury were unacceptable. He shared his thoughts in a striking interview with a broadcaster. Here are Tokoz’s comments:
“I WAS INCREDIBLY HAPPY AT BESIKTAS”
“Those were beautiful times for me. We had an incredible team environment, and I was incredibly happy. We had just become champions. My contract was ending. Actually, I got injured while playing for Besiktas. I experienced that injury for Besiktas. But I have no regrets; such things happen in football.”
“THINGS WERE DONE THAT WILL MAKE YOU SAY, ‘THIS CAN’T BE REAL.’”
“Due to some actions shown to me afterward… I actually wanted to stay at Besiktas very much. I wanted to stay. But after what happened to me, I told them, ‘I will leave this club because of how you treated me. Even if you offer me the biggest sums of money in the world, I cannot stay here. Because treating me this way, devaluing a person, and showing such disrespect is something I cannot accept. I left Besiktas with love.’”
“I WOULD HAVE STAYED IF I HAD ANOTHER OPTION”
“They upset me a lot during that time. Contrary to what was written in the newspapers, I didn’t ask for large sums of money. But after what I experienced, I didn’t make any statements. I loved the club, the fans, and the community very much. Because the people at the top can change, and they already have. But at that time, I had to do this. If I had another option, I would have definitely stayed.”
