Fenerbahce heads to Samsun with full squad after international break

The Yellow Canaries, who will face the second-placed team in the league on Sunday, have made all their plans for victory, and it is expected that Ismail Yuksek will join the team after Caglar and Mert Hakan.

Returning from the international break, Fenerbahce will face a critical match against Samsunspor, who are in 2nd place in the Super Lig. The team will begin tactical training for this match today. Having skipped week 8 of the Super Lig, the Yellow Canaries are preparing all plans to win away from home in week 9 to prevent the point gap from increasing to 9 points with leader Galatasaray, who plays one day earlier.

EYES ON ISMAIL YUKSEK
While Livakovic, Szymanski, Amrabat, and En-Nesyri have returned after playing for their national teams on Tuesday evening, Caglar Soyuncu and Mert Hakan Yandas have recovered from their injuries and rejoined the squad. It is expected that Ismail Yuksek will also join his teammates after undergoing an MRI scan today. Thus, Fenerbahce will have a full squad for the Samsunspor match.

FENERBAHCE’S BUSY SCHEDULE

Starting the 2024-2025 season under coach Jose Mourinho, Fenerbahce has accumulated 16 points in the first 7 weeks of the Trendyol Super Lig and earned 4 points in 2 matches in the UEFA Europa League.

Having skipped week 8 of the league before the international break, the Yellow Canaries will enter a busy match schedule starting in the third week of October. Fenerbahce, who has not lost in their last 23 away league games, will visit Samsunspor on October 20. Four days later, they will face English giant Manchester United in the UEFA Europa League, followed by a home game against Bodrum FK on October 27.

After these two matches at Kadikoy, Mourinho’s team will face two challenging away games within 5 days: on November 3 against Trabzonspor and on November 7 against AZ Alkmaar. Just three days after the match in the Netherlands, Fenerbahce will host Sivasspor in the league.

SHOWED OFF DURING THE INTERNATIONAL BREAK

Players like Irfan Can Kahveci, who hasn’t received as much playing time as he’d like in the league this year, were impressive in their performances for their national teams. Mert Muldur started in Turkey’s match against Montenegro, while Samet Akaydin played in the final minutes against Iceland. In Fenerbahce’s ranks, Sebastian Szymanski represented the Poland National Team, Edin Dzeko played for Bosnia and Herzegovina, Youssef En-Nesyri and Sofyan Amrabat for Morocco, and Dominik Livakovic for the Croatian National Team, all playing important matches.

IRFAN CAN KAHVECI’S IMPACTFUL STARTS

Irfan Can Kahveci came off the bench in the Montenegro match and started in the Iceland match for the Turkey National Team. In the Montenegro match, he was subbed in the 63rd minute and scored the winning goal in the 69th minute, securing victory for his team. In the Iceland match, Irfan Can started and scored an equalizing goal in the 62nd minute with a stylish strike.

AMRABAT PLAYED FULL TIME IN 2 MATCHES, EN-NESYRI SCORED

In the Africa Cup of Nations Qualifiers Group B, Morocco faced the Central African Republic on October 12 and 15, winning both matches and securing their position as group leaders with 12 points. Sofyan Amrabat started in both games, while Youssef En-Nesyri came off the bench in the first game and started in the second. Morocco won 4-0 in the away match against Central African Republic, with Youssef En-Nesyri scoring the third goal from a penalty in the 50th minute.

EDIN DZEKO’S GOAL WASN’T ENOUGH

Bosnia and Herzegovina, playing in UEFA Nations League Group A3, hosted Germany. Despite Edin Dzeko scoring in the 70th minute, Bosnia and Herzegovina could not turn the match around, losing 2-1 after Deniz Undav’s two goals in the 30th and 36th minutes.
